The smart-level is a unique instrument developed for measurements in single and multi-phase liquids, emulsions, froths, slurries, oil/water mixtures, sediments and bioreactors.

The smart-level lab is a version of the instrument which is particularly suited to laboratory and research applications and is presently available with measurement lengths of 150, 400 and 800 mm. (Other lengths up to 2 metres can be made on request).screen_grab011.jpg

The basic measurement is made by measuring the resistivity between one hundred or more sensor pairs along the length of the active sensing probe. Using the resistance profile measured along the probe every 50 mSec or so, changes or differences in resistivity along the probe can be tracked. Sediments and froths show distinct changes in resistance from the “host” liquid and emulsions of non-conducting organic and conducting aqueous phases often provide measurable changes in resistance. Bulk changes in conductivity can also provide interesting features which can often be linked to reactions or changes in the material along the probe.




We have done successful tests in beer, aqueous/organic emulsions, solvent extraction type liquids, oil and water mixtures, sediments and froths used in mineral extraction.




A demonstration version of the software is available at no charge, where sample data can be analysed.

Video and still pictures are used to provide a visual display of the mixture around the probe so this can be observed with the measurements obtained from the probe and the graphs/images produced by the software.
